You'll be a kid hero with these!

My kids always make me feel like the most clever mom ever. I love that about them. It's good for the ego.

I have been wanting to make these sticky buns from the Barefoot Contessa for a week now since I caught this episode.

I must say though-I think mine are SUPERer easier! You can cut your time in MORE than half with my version, and be a kid hero like me. These are a perfect morning wake up for the upcoming holidays. You could even put everything together on a cookie sheet the night before, then just bake when you are ready!

Caramel Apple Hero Sticky Buns

Ingredients for buns

* 2 packages Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Shells(12 Ready-To-Bake & Fill Shells)

For the filling

* 3/4 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
* 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
11 oz Kraft Caramel Bits
* 1/2 cup sweetened applesauce

Icing

* 1 cup confectioners sugar
* 1 tsp vanilla

* 1/4 cup milk-or less

Directions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (IMPORTANT-don't forget to preheat). Line cookie sheet with parchment paper for easy clean up if you wish.

In a bowl combine the brown sugar and cinnamon, and mix till combined. Add frozen puff pastries to cookie sheet. For each sticky bun put 1/3 teaspoon of applesauce, 1 Tablespoon of of the sugar/cinnamon, top with three caramel bits.

Bake for 25 minutes, until the sticky buns are golden to dark brown on top. Make the icing in a bowl, adding milk until the icing is the consistency you want. Make it easy by putting in a small sandwich baggy.

Sticky buns are done when they are puffed, golden and firm to touch. Be careful! They are HOT!  Snip off a tiny corner piece on the icing baggy and ice the cooked buns.

Allow to wait 5 minutes only to cool-then watch your kiddos devour and worship~!
